~ For Immediate Release ~
Saline County resident Steven Johnson, age 44, has filed to be a candidate for the Kansas House of Representatives, District 108.
Johnson's filing with the Secretary of State's office in Topeka will place his name on the ballot for the August 3rd Republican Party primary.
As a fifth-generation farmer who resides near Assaria, Johnson possesses an understanding of our communities' needs. Additionally, Steven
has been employed with Ameriprise Financial since 1988, providing him with extensive financial knowledge. Currently he is the Senior Region
Vice President for the central United States. His primary responsibilities have been investment and financial planning. He has received
awards for both individual and team contributions. He is known for consistently managing his budget efficiently and having the highest
satisfaction scores from the individuals in his territory.
Steven graduated from Southeast of Saline high school in 1984 where he was the Student Body President and class valedictorian. At
Kansas State University, he earned an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics. He also served as Student Body President at KSU
in 1986. An MBA in Finance and Business Policy from the University of Chicago completes his formal education.
Johnson's background suits him well to consider budget issues and priorities. Conscientious management of budget issues is a primary
reason for Johnson's decision to file. Additionally, his experience and work with the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association
in 1984 positions him to help contribute to an integrated long-term energy policy. His career has taken him across the country, but Saline
County has always been home. The knowledge and leadership skills he acquired from work and school would make him a valued contributor to
the community as a representative.
Johnson has been a lifelong member of Assaria Lutheran Church. He has served on the Church Council and continues to be a member of the
finance committee. He is a Trustee for the KSU Foundation and has served two terms on the KSU Foundation Investment Committee. In addition,
Steven is on the investment committee for the Kansas 4-H Foundation.
